Hannah Spearritt details ‘traumatic’ health struggles leaving her unable to cook

S Club 7’s Hannah Spearritt has opened up about her battle with an autoimmune condition, which has caused her health to deteriorate. In a new interview, the 42-year-old revealed she has been suffering from symptoms such as chronic fatigue, brain fog and vertigo.

As reported by MailOnline, the singer said she first experienced similar symptoms back in 2013 after having breast implants. It’s also claimed that the autoimmune condition was triggered again after the Primeval actor suffered two miscarriages in 2022, as well as stress.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine, she said: “I don’t think I realised how much I’d deteriorated because it happened so gradually, I had no energy and couldn’t even get on a train or cook dinner. That affected my mental health, too, because I’ve always been a physical and sporty person, it’s only when you get better and can do things you love again that you realise how bad things were.”

Hannah also revealed that dealing with her health and the recent death of her bandmate and ex-boyfriend Paul Cattermole had been “tough”. The mum of three said: “It’s been a tough and challenging year, and things happened that were quite traumatic.”

Hannah has previously opened up about her health woes with The Sun. Speaking about Paul’s tragic death and pulling out of the S Club 7 reunion, the actor explained: “I hadn’t been in the best of health — I’ve got a compromised immune system and stress makes it worse.

“My body just couldn’t cope with everything that was happening. I wasn’t myself.” Hannah added that she was getting “crippling panic attacks” and was “tired all the time”. Such symptoms, she continued, affected her children too as she had “no energy to do anything with them.”

Hannah shares two children with her husband Adam Thomas – Taya, five, and Tora, three – and is due to appear on the 2024 edition of Dancing On Ice. The mum previously appeared on Good Morning Britain to confirm her place on the ITV show.

At the time, she said: “I’m really excited about learning a new skill. It’s so easy to live your comfortable life and that aspect of mixing things up is very appealing. Fitness is another reason why I’m doing it! It’s really exciting.”
