The Chase's Jenny Ryan defied the odds as she beat a team with an impressive score – but left them surprised at the end of the show.

Presenter Bradley Walsh, 63, welcomed four hopefuls into the studio for Monday's (December 18) repeat, who hoped to leave with some cash. First up to face The Vixen was Henry.

The 25-year-old answered six questions correctly in the cash builder and he went head to head with Jenny with £6,000 in the bank. Despite the rocky start, Henry was the first to make it back to the final chase.

Next up was Sue, who was close behind Henry with £5,000. The team were on a roll as the 59-year-old teacher joined her co-star back at the panel.

Following Sue was personal assistant Stephanie. She added to the team's total by £4,000 and once again made it through to the final chase.

Last to battle it out with Jenny was 54-year-old Andy. He gathered £5,000 and despite being the last player, refused to take the minus offer of -£3,000.

The civil servant also couldn't be tempted by the higher offer of £45,000 and stuck with his original earnings. Like his co-stars, Andy had no problems making it through to the final chase.

With a full team on her hands, it looked to be a tough evening for Jenny. The contestants managed to answer 20 questions correctly which on other days, is high enough to beat the chaser.

But the 41-year-old was on top form and managed to catch the team with 11 seconds to spare, meaning they had no choice but to say goodbye to their £20,000. At the end of the show, Bradley admitted: "I'm a bit gutted quite frankly."

Despite the triumphant win, Jenny echoed these thoughts. She said: "I'm a bit gutted as well because I think the team almost did enough to beat me. One or two more correct answers and it was coming right down to the wire there."
